Sam Fuqua

Bass

Sam Fuqua

Sam Fuqua has played most styles of popular music over 40+ years of bass playing.  In addition to The Wild Elderberries, his current projects include The Vipers--a Gulf Coast Cajun and blues band--and playing in the house band at Unity Spiritual Center in Boulder.  He plays the occasional jazz gig on upright bass, too.

Sam was born in Detroit and, as you might expect, his favorite bassist is Motown legend James Jamerson, the foundational genius of the electric bass guitar.  Sam played for over 25 years with The Mighty Twisters, a Boulder-based ska band that for several years was the opening act for the 4th of July fireworks at CU's Folsom Field.

One of his favorite things is to find the perfect bass line to support a great song, so he's happy to be playing the songs of the Elderberries!
